About Jon Hollinger
Jon Hollinger, founder and owner of Aspen Outfitting Company in Aspen, Colorado, became involved in the shotgun business by importing Italian side-by-side shotguns in the mid-1970's. Shortly after that, he became involved with the gun-fitting aspect of the sport, and continues to import and distribute upland bird guns from Armas Ugartechea of Eibar, Spain.
During the late 1980's and 1990's, he worked extensively for Holland & Holland of London, England, and E.J. Churchill of London, England, giving shooting clinics and conducting custom gun-fittings for these prestigious London gun-makers.
Jon holds certification from the United States Sporting Clays Association and the National Sporting Clays Association as a certified shotgun shooting instructor. He has conducted thousands of hours of shooting instruction from the Aspen Outfitting Company retail location in the St. Regis Aspen Resort.
A native of Lanark County, Ontario, Jon grew up hunting ruffed grouse, woodcock, and black ducks on his family's property in this game-rich area of eastern Ontario. Jon has guided thousands of appreciative clients on bird hunts all across North America, from Mexico to Saskatchewan, Ontario to Oregon.
Jon Hollinger and Aspen Outfitting Company have been profiled in "Spanish Best: The Fine Shotguns of Spain," by Terry Wieland; several books by Michael McIntosh; Shooting Sportsman; Sporting Classics; Esquire; and numerous other publications.
Jon includes Michael McIntosh, author of "Shotguns and Shooting" and some 22 other sporting titles, as a close personal friend, and he has served as a source of information for many of those works.
Jon's son, Jarrod Hollinger, has chosen to join his father in the family business. Jarrod graduated from Bishop's University with a degree in Business Administration. Daughter Jessica is in the 2010 class of Elementary Education at University of Northern Colorado.
